They are still out there!
Come to find out, the car is for sale on a small used car lot on Venice Blvd.
So the next morning I call the used car lot and speak to the owner and tell him I’d like to take a look at the car.
He says he’s had a lot of activity on the car and if I want to give him a $1000 deposit on my credit card I’ll be in a first position to be able to buy it.
Well, I don’t hesitate for a second and go ahead and give him my card number and make plans to make the 1.5 hour drive into LA.
Jonathan had said the car was fairly original and unmolested with some “day 2” mods done and he was correct.
So now the good part…… sitting on a used car lot is a 1968 Corvette L89 with an original drive train and tank sticker.
Appears that the body has never been hit and it has been painted once years ago in a sort of Motion/Bumblebee style. The original hood was replaced with an original GM L88 hood and it was sitting on slotted mags. Tri power long gone.
Original color was Safari Yellow.
Tank sticker shows it came from the factory with the L89 option, F41, N11, K66, 411 rear, power windows, power brakes, tinted glass, standard black interior.
A big thanks to Jonathan for the lead on this car!
Jonathan owns the L89 Registry and this was a car that was not in his registry.
A life long California car with no rust. It was bought by the second owner in 1970 and he had it till he recently passed and the used car dealer purchased it from the probate attorney.

look forward to catching up with you.
2 are 1969 cars and the other is a 1971 car.
They look the same to me. The car has been painted once but when that was done, the painter didn’t even remove a Hedman Headers sticker on the door jamb. That leads me to believe they certainly wouldn’t have removed the trim tag.
