Upper control arms have all new bushings, lowers need replaced. It is possible to compress the spring and drop the lower arm to replace or does the knuckle need to be removed to get the spring out?
You're talking about disconnecting the lower arm from the ball joint, yes?
As long as you can raise the frame high enough to let the lower arm swing out of the spring's way, it'll come out.
If you want to leave the ball joint in place and disconnect the arm at the frame, I don't know how much movement is available to get the spring out. It's not usually done this way, probably for good reason.
Yes, disconnecting at the ball joint as I have new ball joints to go in as well
You'll be just fine as long as you lift the frame high enough.
If it's your first time removing a spring, go with a spring compressor. There are other ways to do it with a safety chain and jack but you'll have to google how it's done.
