For 1970, I'm looking to confirm the hood I purchased is an original OEM part. I have no idea what to look for. In my case it is a big block hood. Are there any dead giveaways for reproduction hoods, or to verify OEM?
Shoot some close, sharply focused pictures of the underside aft corners (around the latches) and post.

I'm going to have to get back to you on those. I'm not near the car now and won't be for a few weeks at least. All I have are these, which is showing me it is not fitting as well as I would hope. The nose of the hood is a little thick also which may be some older body work build-up. Until I start shaping it this may not be much to go by.
The poor fit is not surprising and is not limited to aftermarket hoods. If there is any history of front end damage, all bets are off involving fit/fair with any replacement hood.
Those holes where the trim piece fit look to be bigger than normal.
Be nice to see the underside of the hood
It will be a few weeks at least before I can get more pics. I'll have many more questions about getting it to fit right, but will likely give it to a trusted shop to make it right. I have no solid history on the hood but my car has not been hit. I was hoping to find a perfect original hood that would fit right and would be great if it was painted, but that's a dream of course.
I still have the L88 hood it came with which is a perfect fit and paint match. Maybe I should just go back to that. My preference is to have the correct hood on the car.
Here are some pics of the underside of the hood. It's in a cramped space. I'm looking to understand if this is an aftermarket or OEM big block hood. I can take more specific pics if needed.
On my 69 there are several numbers in the yellow oval. Don't know what they mean, but they are not a part number. I would think that a replacement hood might not have any markings.
