That looks like a 2×4 through that hole, not a body mount or a frame. So I'm guessing you have the body off the frame. To repair that area of the bird cage they sell repair inserts that fit inside the damaged area and are then welded in place.
So yes that can be repaired with the body still glued on. I'd definitely keep a fire extinguisher handy however!

yes it is off the frame and on a dolly I made for the c3. I have purchased the weld in replacement parts for both the left and right body mounts. I can’t weld for beans so I have to have some one who can do it. I needed to know if the body can stay on so I can tell the welder that. Thanks for your response.
This could have been caused by water getting in your ”Hinge Pillars” from either you’re “A-Pillars” or your “lower windshield outer frame corners” (maybe both).
While you’re in there and repairing the lower Hinge Pillars, have a closer look at these potential sources of the problem. https://www.corvette-restoration.com...orners-part-1/
My hinge pillars are good but I am in the middle of repairing my A-Pillars and lower windshield outer frame corners, because I saw some water in my hinge pillars, prior to my frame off restoration.
Cheers,
Richard

Hey Scott, there are a handful of reproduction hinge support and rocker channel pieces available.
You could always cut and fit them and then hire a welder to come over and MIG it all up.
I had done that before and was going that route with my lower windshield corners and then my cousin lent me a small MIG welder, I Youtubed some welding sheet metal videos, and took it on.

hey kidster71. I purchased the rocker channel inserts from zip. But I m finding out almost all the fabricators won’t weld that close to the fiberglass body. No one wants to cut them out to replace them. I got both left and right sides.
