Hi everyone. I'm about to purchase this 1973 Vette. But I wonder if I should run away or not, regarding these birdcage pictures. Thank you in advance for your advice.
This is the best place to be if you have questions or issues with your Corvette!
If I saw rust like that I would probably smother it in motor oil to slow it down and help break the parts free. That would scare me as well if I saw that while looking for a nice Corvette. You are very smart to seek advice before jumping.
Whats the rest of the car like, paint, interior, engine and the Price! There are three other body mounts to look at as well as what you can see around the windshield.... As stated above it's whats under those body mounts that counts. Personally, since I won't be welding new metal in there I would walk....unless it's cheep...I like the 73s of all the years////

Really depends on what you want to do with the car and the condition of other typical problem areas (other mounts, frame, top of the birdcage, etc.). Hard to tell by just looking at the one mount but if just going to be a weekend fun driver and not going to fully restore it then it might be ok. If going to restore the car then those other areas could be critical to making a wise decision and not end up spending a small fortune. Might want to lurk here for a while and get a better feel of what to look for in a good car. Good luck in your search.
