Looks like there's a new RWL tire on the market, and they've obviously copied the BFG Radial T/A tread.
Where the Radial T/A has a speed rating of S (up to 112 mph), this one has a speed rating of H (up to 130 mph).
$109.99 / tire at Priority tire.
At about $75 per tire cheaper than the brown-turning "white" letters on the Radial T/A's, I wonder if we may start seeing these around.
A quick search shows they're made either in South Africa, Cambodia, Serbia, and Thailand.
I'm not at all convinced this will ever be an option as far as purchasing a set, but one thing's for sure, we certainly lack choices of RWL 15" tires for our cars.
Sure wish Firestone and Goodyear would get back in the game... https://www.gripmax.com/html/products/70.html
Warming to the idea, although I do like sidewalls. Seems part of a c3's design to have sidewalls. If there were better tire choices in 16's, I might 'upgrade', but moving to 17's, well, to my eye, they just don't look right on a C3 body.

And the rim style is limited. I had 17s and I had a choice of torque thrusts or torque thrusts for affordable rims. If I wanted to spend a lot more I could get a one or two more choices. THere is all sorts of choices left over from the 60s and 70s
17s
15s
Cooper Cobras but the same issue of only being speed rated to 120.....I would try the new ones provided they are US DOT approved

That car looks great. I think if the car has a modded look to it (like yours), with a great, almost lowered stance, (again, like yours), the 17's look really good. On a more stock-looking car, the 15's look best, but I wouldn't want to be dogmatic about it!
According to “Tyre Press” and “Justia”, Gripmax tire company is a Chinese owned company out of Qingdoa Province. Nothing against the Chinese people, but I’ll pass. I give the Chinese government enough of my money already.

That's what I currently have on my '71 LS5, but they're 8 years old now . Easily the best looking of the white lettered tires. But for $182 per tire now, BFG should damn well make sure the letters don't turn brown, which is still a common complaint, even though it was apparently 'fixed' after 2020. BFG should also re-engineer it to be at least an H-rated tire for spirited driving.
Also, Michelin is a French company, and now owns BF Goodrich. Anyone remember boycotting all things French, and Freedom Fries?

why would you buy new tires when your 8 year old are still good ? Of course the manufacturer is going to tell you after seven or eight years to change them if they did not, they would be out of business. I took the tires off the rims about 2 months ago and inspected them from the inside. They looked great !! No dry rot or cracking
My tires on my 67 Camaro are 13 years old and tires in my 70 C3 11 yrs old ..there perfectly fine 75 mph hour all day long.

I agree . People are like sheep 🐑 they will follow whatever other people tell them with never asking for proof or facts backing up there statements.. I took for free my friends 8 year old tires 5 years ago because People say” you should change .. well 20k miles later still running strong .. I am waiting for him to buy another set soon and I’ll get another set for free. 😂😂

Whoa guys, remember tho old adage about the word "assume"?
My 8 year-old tire's treads are quite worn down, especially on the back.
Hence my comment about spirited driving earlier.

Worn treads, friend, that's the reason. You assumed they're still good, I actually didn't write that.

Michelin has owned BFG for a LONG TIME - decades !

bally if the tires are worn by all means change them it’s not safe . however a lot of people have brand new tires with literally no mileage on them and they think magically they will fail because everyone says to change them at 7 yrs old!! Utterly ridiculous !!!
I am SHOCKED that China would copy something that someone else in another country engineered.
Radial T/A on the left, Gripmax on the right
I know that this is a "long shot", but maybe BFG/Michelin has a "new" Radial T/A in the works, and sold the molds for the current tires to the Chinese company. Or, for that matter maybe the "Chinese company" is actually a subsidiary of Michelin......
The tread pattern is the same but the Chinese tire is the "traditional" 5 rib tread the while BFG isn't.
Looks like they just copied the tread design - other than that who knows what the construction compares like.
