Hi, I have a bunch of what seems like something wrong with the electrical in the steering column. The right turn signals don't work (good bulbs), flashers don't work, reverse lights don't come on, no buzzing sound when key is inserted and intermittent ignition switch function to start engine. It always starts but sometimes you need to go through a long series of one click on the starter for each turn of the key. It's cheap to replace the signal switch, so does anyone think doing that would help eliminate all or some of these electrical issues? They all seem to show up around the same time.
Do you own a ohm meter? It cost's zero cents to test the wiring and switches in the column. As apposed to throwing parts at a problem and "Hope" you hit something.
If you are going to attempt any electrical repairs, buy a 1974 Chevrolet Factory Service Manual, it will have a wiring schematic for your car. You can find the manuals on eBay and get an ohm meter too. Start reading articles about your cars Specific Problems, then You will know where to begin looking. Fuses and bulbs are a good starting point.

I would start with a meter and use it to test the ign switch terminals
Does the key get stuck when trying to start or you just have to make several attempts. If not stuck either ignition switch or starter solenoid.
Inside someone may have damaged the turn signal switch...it may be missing a cancel spring, the key in buzzer switch is missing or broken, and the hazard tulip connects to a paddle which is inserted into the turn signal switch---that probably isn't connected to the switch.
Yes I have that book 453 pages? I've searched through it for schematics or anything electrical on the steering column and has nothing that I can find. I have an ohm meter and much more. The hand drawings of wiring paths are really not in question but the results of testing still leave questions where the problems actually are located. I'll keep hammering on it but I don't need anymore advise from anyone. thx
