Be sure you check the frame by the kickups, as mentioned. I was able to get my C-2 at a low price because the frame was obviously bad. When we lifted the body, and went to pull the chassis out from under, here's what happened:
By the fact that the lower A-pillars are THAT badly rusted tells a guy the upper part of the windshield surround won't be pretty. I would assume most of the windshield surround would be heavily damaged and need significant repair, including the corners (meaning the front clip has to come off). But the parts and pieces are out there to do it. Looking behind the kick panels would tell you what ELSE needs fixing. Hold your breath! ...whoever takes those off!
And then you start looking at the FRAME towards the rear ...lol. Plus it looks like it needs paint...
To the guy who enjoys the challenge of metal fabrication, it could be a fun project. For the guy who wants to go "enjoy a corvette" it would be a costly nightmare. You're smart to pass on it.

Zooming i you can see that rust goes up the A pillar.....unless the car is free dont bother unless you want to be working on that for the next 2 to 5 years....if that area got enough water to rot it out then the body mount is horrible as well....

Never seen a free Corvette before.LOL. I think the car has value, how much. Thats debatable. this is a convertible in a good color combination, with a manual trans. Several members here have taken on projects in worse condition and turned them into streamline butterflies.
Hey guys, sorry I stopped getting emails that people had responded.
Current status is we reached an agreement since he needs it out of the garage so he can sell the house. Really hard to work on it where it is. Moving it to a friend's home shop so we can clean it up and get it running. I'll have some better pictures at that point. know better what is going on.
Plan is to eventually sell it after we get her cleaned up. Really needs a bath! We debated back and forth before looking up the paint color. It is the special 'steel city'. So can't wait to see it without an inch of dust on it. I lost $1 betting on Pewter!
From my perspective, I'm helping out a friend get it out of his garage and in a better position to sell. He now has less to deal with. Not about the money to me.
Remove the kick panels and see what condition the lower birdcage structure is in. Check the chassis over good for rust and corrosion. Check the other side of the windshield pillar too. Now that you have the car you can carefully scrape the rust on the drivers side pillar and determine if it is rusted through or it is just heavy surface rust.
