My 78 the windows stop when they are fully up but I have at least 1/2" gap to the Ttop weather stripping. Which means it should probably go up at least another 1/4" to seal. I would say 3/4-1" to short. What do I need to adjust to get the windows to go all the way up?
At the top of each track, one front and one back, there is a U shaped piece that is held into the track by a phillps head machine screw. You can reach them easily. Once you find them, loosen the screw and the piece will slide up or down in the track. Move up as needed.

Here you go.from my 78 Adjustable top stopper in front track this is the back side, the bolt/screw you need to locate same stopper on the bottom of all the tracks.
You will have to remove interior trim panels if you have not already done so to access the vertical run tracks. Once you loosen the window stops (towards top of track) roll the window up with door closed than back off window (down) slightly. You may have to repeat a couple of times until window seals and door opens and closes properly.
Turns out the upper stops were maxed out already. I had to replace the front driver track as the top plate split and the PO used a nut on the backend which just spun as I tried to loosen. I knew about that but not the maxed out adjustments. I had picked up a nice used replacement from carsile a few years ago. Replacing that front track without removing the window was not fun…. Terrible in fact. I put it all back together and with the door open it goes up pretty good, with door closed it does as well but a tiny gap. Pass side does the same but when the door is closed it stops about 3/8” before the top seal. Not sure I’m gona pull that door apart to try and adjust.
Sounds like it’s binding either to the front or back can you pull it up by hand
didn’t feel like it moved when I pulled up on it. Likely more resistance with the door closed and the weather stripping. Old motors and springs prob doesn’t help.

Yes, power windows. I did do a search and I've seen the stripped gears on the regulator but not the motor being a tooth off. How does that even happen? I would think the motor would just readjust as its not a travel limited motor so the stops are hard set by the arm?
I would look at the electric motors. On my 2001 Camaro daily driver, the electric motors last for three or four years, I know restoration parts are always “hit or miss.”

I'll prob leave them till they stop working. its annoying but my understanding is that the aftermarket motors are not stronger than the used OEM. I have seen pairs for cheap on ebay at less than $100 for two.
