Hello new to the forum, I have a question about the hi beam switch for my 77 that was built Oct 76 for the 77 model year was it upgraded? Also will I need to change out the pig tail.. thanks
Yes, the high beam switch was changed for the 1977 model year, being on the steering column rather than the floor. Whether you would consider it an upgrade or not is open to interpretation. It’s a 1 year only part and has 4 different functions from a single switch.
The original is the white,the new one is the brown, they're totally different. The original pigtail has a round disc attached and a spring,and a pawl the spring was lost.the brown was the only option from zip
The brown switch is correct for your 77...
Do a E-bay search for GM #8917693 for the correct connector housing.

No need to splice in a new housing if you have the original dimmer switch wiring...

Did that new switch from Zip come with installation instructions? The reason I ask is if the switch is not installed correctly it "may" put an extra load on the multi function switch pivot bracket (smart switch, gm's name not mine)...
