Default 1969 carpet

Between Al Knoch and ACC (Auto Custom Carpets), who makes the better product in terms of fitment, closest to original loop?

I have used both in 69's I have restored. Neither one has the exact, correct heel pad and dimmer pad as the original carpet. Romeo engineering has a more correct heel pad and has the IMCO logo, although the font is not exactly like the factory carpets. In a red interior car that I restored I found that Romeo had a closer loop and color to the factory carpets. Here is the website: https://romeoengineering.com/ I do know that they are slower to get items fro than Al Knoch or ACC

I purchased loop carpet for my 73 ACC. I drove the car maybe 10 miles every two weeks. The carpet started to wear after less than a year, I had mats, but their product is not very durable. My thought that they, like other restoration manufacturers are driven by the prices customers will pay.
I think my carpet set me back around $ 300 for the whole interior. The floor mats from them were even worse. I found some excellent floor mats (only front) that cost almost the same amount.

Where did you purchase your carpet/mats from?

I tried to get Romeo for my 68 back around 2005. This was well before the “covid and supply chain” excuses we hear today constantly.
I gave up after about 9 months of excuses. Have they gotten any better?

My experience with Romeo Engineering has been mixed. I started buying from them in the late 1990s… I purchased a set of carpet for a 1970 LT-1 (light saddle 80/20) I was restoring and in fairness to them, my requirements were rather custom (very early 1970 with various 1969 and 1970 characteristics). My wait on that was about three years… I probably called them every two weeks toward the end. Having said that (and after many other purchases from them over the years), my last several purchases (maybe two years ago) have taken around three weeks. Seems to be hit or miss, but my own experience, at least recently, is that they have been pretty good on lead times.

Again, in fairness to Romeo Engineering, they do have an excellent product. I guess it comes down to how long you are willing to wait on delivery.

Regards,

Stan Falenski

Depending on your goals. Al Knoch seems to be the go to place. However, if you are showing the car, I think the weave pattern on the front floor carpets is facing the wrong direction. They will make it correctly, if asked, for a price. The rear wall carpet was cut wrong. I had to send them a tracing of my o.e.m. carpet for them to cut it correctly, well almost. Here is a picture of the incorrect 2022 carpet they sent, AK circa 1979, and the o.e.m. 1969 carpet. I can never figure why most/all manufacturers can not faithfully reproduce parts when original are available.
