Hello,

Are the stated torque settings in the 1980 assembly manual stated in N.M. or Ft. Lbs.?
Thanks.

The multiplier for N*m to inch pounds is 8.85...
Example above: 14 N*m X 8.85=123.9 in. pounds, divide that by 12 = 10.32 ft. pounds...
20 N*m X 8.85=177 in. pounds...
I know those numbers above were just examples, but that is a huge difference between min & max ranges...
Here is my 1/4" drive torque wrench...
Ranges:
1 - 20 N*m
9 - 180 in. pounds
0.7 - 15 ft. pounds

Thanks. My symbols are a bit more blurred (1980 manual) than yours, so I couldn't make out if things were stated in Ft. Lbs. or NM. Your pic now confirms that I have overtorqued (in Ft. Lbs.) my rear spring bolts. I now need to reset my torque wrench for NM and re-torque. Thanks mate !

Price a Snap-On 1/4" digital, mine is about half that cost...
I had to purchaser this one because I was required to upload my findings (torque readings) as per drawing(s) hardware number & sequence patterns...
For general torque wrench use a good quality calibrated clicker style will work just fine...

I don't have a 1980 Shop Manual but do have a 1982 Shop Manual. They state both NM and foot pounds (1979 Shop Manual does too but not applicable for Dana rears) so not sure what part of your manual is blurred. See attached from 1982 batwing Dana axle section.
