Custom painted Corvettes were much more common back between the 60s to 80s. I think much had to do with the ability to easily paint your car in the driveway with lacquer - very forgiving, user friendly, and inexpensive.

...there was also another episode where Ponch(Panch?) was drag racing I think either a white '56 or '57 drag car and after one of his passes, somehow ends up going through the pits and after the "bad" guy in a full race car, LOL.

Those shows were great. It's great to see how things were back then. Some of the trends and things they showed were several years ahead of the rest of the country at the time.
I like the episode where they had to break a ring of crafty tape deck thieves on the beach. John Baker had his tape deck stolen too. Ahhhh remember when people would steal tape decks and CBs?? You have to be of a certain age to know what that was about. I had a CB stolen out of my car once. My fault for leaving the door unlocked (it was generally a safe place and I never locked the door). Probably just as well, there was no damage to the vehicle. It was a cheap CB I had bought at a swap meet for $25. The thief kind of goofed b/c there was a plastic grocery bag of good (new) VHS movies (and other cassette tapes) on the floor behind the driver's seat which IMO were FAR more valuable than the CB (at the time).

Ponch had a gold 70's era Firebird with the dual forward facing factory scoops from a Formula AND the Trans Am shaker scoop at the same time. Talk about wearing a belt with suspenders -LOL!
