The only thing the VIN will tell you about that 75 is that it's a convertible (the 67 in the third and forth position, a coupe would be 37) and that it started life with base L-48 350 (the J in the fifth spot).
I'm not real sure what you're looking for when you say "road blocks", unless you're trying to get a Carfax history report, which you can't. The Carfax and similar reports only work with the 1981 and newer 17 digit VIN's, but to be honest, in spite of Carfax claims in their ads, they're really pretty useless. Carfax didn't really start collecting information nationally until the early or mid 90's, but even the info they do collect is only provided to them on a voluntary basis. No dealer, repair shop or body shop is required to provide information to them, and most don't.
Reproduction owners manuals, Assembly Manuals and Chevrolet Shop Manuals are available through most Corvette vendors and original ones can be found at companies that specialize in original literature like Troxel's in Missouri and Faxon in California.
GB, Just wondering if GM ever found the files with the original build sheets or Window Stickers for the C3s???? The last Corvettes we work on had the fuel tank build sheet but you couldn’t read them.. The ink had faded...Thanks Steve

The National Corvette Museum has some information starting with 1977, and all build sheets and window stickers from the start of production at Bowling Green in June 1981 going forward (except for some from 82). The NCRS has most Corvette Shipping Data Reports from some point in 1962 through 1975, but these only tell you the original selling dealer and the car's assembly date. The Shipping Report doesn't have any information about options, colors, etc.
Now having said all that, a few years ago a customer of mine reached out to the GM Archives and/or the National Corvette Museum for information on his 76 Corvette. They told him they didn't have anything from 1976, but then a few days later he got a call back. It turned out they'd found the original invoice for his car, along with either a work order for a recall or warranty claim. I think he also found out the car was ordered through one dealer and delivered through another, either through a courtesy delivery or a dealer trade.
The number for the GM Archives is 734-261-5086 and the email is: https://www.gm.com/heritage/archive/archive-form, but personally I'd call instead of relying on someone reading a acting on an email.
