Hi fellas, hoping to get a little insight on this.
I have a late model 1969 coupe that has been spitting out the passenger side upper door hinge spring, first tried a new spring with the old hinge and no go, the spring just doesn't want to stay put, so instead of bubba'ing it up I decided to just replace the whole assembly and not have to worry about it anymore. I ordered a new refurbished unit from a well known Corvette restoration parts company, the unit came in, I drove the car an hour and a half away so that I could have a buddy of mine help me realign the door after replacing the hinge. I got everything apart, opened up the sealed bag that the new unit came in, tried to bolt the new hinge onto the car and.... no go. The tall side of the spring is facing up/north and because of that there isn't enough clearance for the bolts to line up correctly. I checked my drivers side spring just to see how that was orientated and on the drivers side the short end of the spring is facing up/north. I placed the old one next to the new one and took a few photos, I am hoping that someone who has knowledge on this subject can chime in and let me know if my new hinge was assembled incorrectly/backwards or if I was sent the wrong part entirely. I know that there was a change in hinge design in 1969 but I'm not sure if that's what i've got going on here or not. I tried doing multiple searches online hoping to find a photo of the old hinge vs new hinge design but I got nothing, all that comes up is random photos of hinges from Top Flight or Corvette Central and they don't specify exactly what I am looking at. I will attach the side by side photos bellow, the orientations are completely different, if someone out there could help clarify things for me I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, according to the NCRS shipping report she has a production date of 8/27/1969, I'm not sure if that information is relevant in my case but then again maybe it is. new one is on top new one is on top
They are obviously not the same.
Contact the supplier.
Thanks Mel, I called them on Friday(when I tried the swap) but unfortunately they are closed until next week. I just wanted to make sure that when I am finally able to make the call I can counter whatever rebutle might be thrown my way, as to why their part won't work.

They gave you the opposite side. Look at vendor sites with pictures of left and right.
The two springs pictured are obviously different...BUT...OP said issue was on the passenger (RH) side and the new one is stamped ....RH.....soooo...what am I missing here? I am confused about the confusion....

Ok I think that we can put this one to bed. The Company I purchased the hinge from reached out to me today after hearing the message I left, I sent them the photos and they confirmed that the hinge sent to me was indeed a driver side hinge. I did ask about the R stamping and was told what I had already suspected but wasn't 100% sure on.... "it is not uncommon for parts produced by GM in the 1970's to occasionally be mis stamped, and or to have a part from a later year be used" I guess I just happened to be lucky this time around. They will be shipping me out the correct hinge asap.

Yes Mel is correct, after speaking to the company earlier today I was informed that the part is indeed stamped incorrectly
