You have to first remove the carpeted console side panels, which are held on by three screws on each side that are sort of buried in the carpet. Once the side panels are off there is a screw on each side of the parking brake cover and one on each side of the front of the cover, screwed to J-clips on the plastic shift console.

If you decide to remove the side panels to get at the arm pad/rest, it's a good idea to remove the seats since pulling the panels isn't a big deal, pull carefully, but putting them back back in will more than likely mess up the carpet panels since they look original and somewhat fragile. Are you planning on replacing the entire interior, new seats, carpet etc...? I also see that you have the CB option, does it work?

with the two posts above. Remove seats to remove blah, blah, blah, then a frame off restoration is possible. I could happen. Be careful!

Buccaneer is spot on (as usual) based on my personal experience. First remove the seats and it will save you time/trouble.
