Default Corvette c3 1969

Guys!
Can someone tell me the thick pink wire goes from the ignition switch? The diagram shows this wire going to the engine water temperature sensor. Either my diagram is wrong, or the previous owner wired mine differently.

You have found one of the many errors in the original GM wiring diagrams. Here is a piece of my corrected 1969 C3 wiring diagrams in color. If you do a search on the Forum for "1969 Corvette Wiring Diagram" you should find several PDF versions available. I think the last one I put out there is dated 22Apr2025. I started putting dates on them so that members could be sure that they had the latest. There are normally two versions, one is the complete diagram for using on a computer, the second is the "Pages" version which can be printed and then taped together for working in the garage.
The pink wire actually connects to a White/R-B wire that goes to your coil if you have a standard ignition with points. If you have TI ignition the pink wire connects to a resistor cloth covered white wire that goes through a grommet in the firewall to the TI harness.
If you look at the lower half of the bulkhead connector your drawing shows a W-R/B wire connecting to a Dark Green wire on the other side which actually goes to the Temp gauge. I have corrected about a dozen wiring errors in the 69 diagram. I think that I have found them all, but every once in a while, someone questions something and I have to investigate to see if I missed something.

Agreed - Robert has been working on diagrams for multiple model years and has been very generous with his time and energy.

What I find kinda mind-boggling is that GM put these frequent and major errors out there. Either the wiring was solid and needed no troubleshooting or mechanics knew not to go to the diagrams for information.
