Default HD Diff Cover Plug thread engagement

I have a stock '75. I had to replace the rear diff cover and got one of the replacement HD covers, but kept my original plug. I have read that the threads on the plug don't necessarily have to go all the way up to the flange, but I was surprised at how much stuck out. I took pictures below. Sorry for the first blurry one, it didn't appear blurry on the camera when I took it. There do seem to be a good number of threads inside the hole. The second picture shows how many threads are engaged. From what I can tell, it's not leaking. Does this seem similar to what you guys have experienced? (I do have the posi-tag, but removed it for the photo).

Completely normal; it is a tapered pipe plug and should stop before seating all the way. My original plugs/housings stop and won't even hold the Positraction flags upright.

Yup, tapered pipe threads. Perfectly normal.

FWIW my 78 has a red plastic tag on it regarding posi information. That would take up some of the threads.
