Hello All, this should be a quick, easy one! What would cause the courtesy lights to be on all the time? Bad ground switch in the door jamb?
Thanks in advance, LowSporty
The switch doesn't have a ground. The ground wires are at the bulbs and are all joined to a common ground. The switch just completes the circuit. The circuit might be closed, even when the door is closed. You can try to adjust the switch so the circuit opens and closes with door closing/opening...In your case you will want to turn the switch to the left it a little at a time (so you don't damage anything) until it works properly. You might also remove the switch to make sure the contacts are opening and closing. Might as well put some dielectric grease on them "while you're at it."

Actually the switch is the ground. The switch's body is screwed to the hinge pillar which provides the chassis ground path. When the plunger is extended a small metal plate near the end contacts the switch body and completes the ground, turning on the lights. The switches are self-adjusting and can be reset but that doesn't sound like the issue here.
Since we don't know what year LowSporty is working on, I'd first check the headlight ****, like nowhereman said, and be sure it's not rotated counter-clockwise into the detent position. Next, I'd get a helper so both door plungers can be manually pushed in all the way, at the same time, to see if this shuts the lights off (plunger adjustment required if so).
Howdy, finally got my *** in gear fixed this issue! The previous owner had pulled the fuse when this started, replaced the fuse and all interior lites worked but would not turn-off, grounds were good and working at door-jamb switches, so I pulled the glove-box and removed the goofy timer/delay thingy and jumped the 2 white wires and Bingo! Good To Go! Thanks to All, LowSporty
