Good afternoon . This is a pic of my rear caliper, i had gotten 1 with no insert where the brake line connects to caliper, it leaked, fixed.
my 2 front leak, they have no insert, neither, i got stainless lines they leak.
Do anybody know if fronts are to have an insert like in the picture?
I admit I've never looked, or just don't remember looking, into the port hole of a front caliper, but I do know that a taper seat is not what seals the front from fluid leaks -- like it does in the rear. The front is sealed between the flat mating surfaces around the hole and on the hose. The copper washer is necessary to act as a soft gasket that will deform to both surfaces.

scratching my head here, 3 times and 2 different crush washer sizes and keeps leaking

could it be the thread? The original had threads all the way, the update stainless, has a space with no threads as u see on the picture.
I've read other thread replies that say sometimes two washers are necessary in some cases. As long as you have full thread engagement and a high pressure capable seal, it should be OK.
Never understood the crush washer bull*hit, nothing but trouble. You must ask for and receive a real crush washer of the correct size. An ordinary copper one will not do! Hope you are successful.

A true Crush Washer has different annealing to it therefore making it very soft.
Supposedly, a crush washer is a "one-time" use. Once it's been imprinted, you are not to reuse the washer. (but I have)
The imprint would be from a really rough cast iron caliper port. Supposedly the soft copper fills the voids.
(Those washers are common on modern daily drivers too. Often found where a banjo fitting is connected to a rear caliper)

I always assume the copper washers supplied with the hoses are of the proper hardness to use as is – never had leaks with them myself. If there's any doubt, just heat the washer with a propane torch until it's red and drop it in a pot of water (rapid cooling won't affect copper's hardness). This will make it dead-soft and highly conformable to surface imperfections of the mating parts.
