On my 69, there is a Spring and Hook piece is attached to the LH Hood Hinge Assembly. There is nothing that the hook would latch into and the AIM shows the hinge from the opposite side and it is not visible in the picture. Is there a piece missing that the hook would latch to or is this something that found its way to the car after it left the factory for an unknown reason?

Thanks Lou. That is interesting. I’m thinking they came in a pair? The right side is a oem style hinge.
The original owner gave me a complete history of the car in binders with all maintenance receipts and there is no mention of this hinge thus my curiosity.

The other side should be modified somehow, and not a stock hinge. This was a quick hood takeoff system so that you did not have to remove eight bolts, four on each side, to remove the hood for say a radiator change. Lou.
