Default Upper Windshield Frame Corner Depressions

Both sides of my upper w/s frame have small depressions where the horizontal piece meets the vertical pieces.

Depression or recessed corner
Depression or recessed corner

Do the recesses serve some function or can they/should they be filled with sealant or weld material?

Thanks

Best photo I could find from back when I redid my windshield frame.

kind of in the shadows so to speak. Can't imagine any benefit to filling in those depression's. But no harm if you did. Once all the trim is back on no one will ever see them.

Normal factory condition. I wouldn’t worry about filling them but would be sure to acid etch/conversion coat/paint.

I noticed the slight depressions also.

Also, I found it interesting how snuggly my replacement window fit into the window frame. There really wasn't a lot of wiggle room; either up or down, left or right. Where the snug fit is apparent is aligning the top of the window so that the glass didn't touch the clips holding in the trim molding. with the bottom of the glass sitting on the bottom steel bracket, that serves as the resting point for the windshield wipers, the top of the glass was just missing contact with the metal clips.
