Can anyone tell me what this part is? It was bolted to my intake manifold with the two wires just connected to each other.

That's your tachometer filter, the signal wire from your tachometer plugs into the black connector and the brown plugs into the distributor cap labeled TACH

ok..thanks.. looks like it must have been bypassed as the tach line from the distributor is leading to the dash.

I had the same question…it is the tachometer filter, helps to stabilize the tach if you get instability in the tachometer display. They are available at most Corvette suppliers.
