Default 1968 Wipers

Recently blew a wiper motor up in February. Replaced and whole system worked.

A couple weeks ago the wipers did not work. I am not getting signal voltage on brown wire at wiper motor.

According to manufacturer, I cannot bench test the motor or I’ll void warranty of motor.

I bought a new motor from corvette central today and installed it. I am still not getting any voltage on brown wire with wipers on.

Wiper motor ground, wiper switch ground, override switch ground, and both grounds on relay are good.

Relay clicks with 12V applied. I took it apart and it moves with voltage applied. (I did the Wilcox test).

Wiper switch passed Wilcox test too.

I am starting to think my second motor is also bad? I noted the blue wire on the motor was not ground with wiper switch on low. Anything I’m missing?

If it has a warranty send it back and get a new one. If not do the bench test with it in the car. Its in the willcox video for the 68

Update:

The light blue wire at the wiper motor is grounded with wiper switch on low and ignition OFF.

However, ignition switch ON and wiper switch on low, the light blue wire loses its ground. It still has no ground when I unplug the wiper relay.

For the wiper to activate (like in Wilcox video mentioned above)…the light blue and green wires need to be grounded. I am not sure where to look to trace the problem.

Ignition off/wiper low = grounded

ignition on/ wiper low = not grounded.

Green wire keeps its ground whether ignition is on or off.

EDIT: Fixed a ground to light blue. Green was grounded. Ignition on. Yellow and red wires to motor had 12V. Nothing.

Has anyone had issues with these motors? I’m surprised two have failed on me.

Is there an issue if you install the wipers in park position?

Its in the AIM, the damage would be from the wipers hitting each other and would probably do more damage to the arms and linkage than to the motor. During testing you need to spray water in the windshield so the blades slip enough for the motor to park correctly

Thank you. If you ran the wiper motor without the linkage connected would that cause an issue?

It may not park correctly but it wont hurt anything. I have done plenty of bench tests with nothing connected and never had an issue

Lectric Limited is claiming I didn’t follow steps in the assembly manual and I should not install wipers on motor while wipers in park. I’m not sure what I’m missing here. My first motor was installed with wipers in park and it worked.
