Was wondering what other members experiences are with carpet vendors for c3 corvettes.
I ordered a set of front carpets from Zip Corvettes, who sourced the carpets from Auto Custom Carpets Inc. (ACC)
The first set arrived and were WAY too short in the rear on both drivers and passenger sides. A good 2-3 inces of floor were showing.
Sent them back and the second set came with NO molded in depression on drivers side rear, and the molded depression on the passengers side rear was 7" wide, while the depression is 12" wide.
Going to send these back as well, but am hesitant to let Zip (ACC) furnish another set.
What do I have to do to get some decent carpet for my 71 coupe 4 speed.
If you're looking for the best NCRS level carpet you probably want to talk to Romeo Engineering. Romeo I believe is the only place that includes the original "IMCO" logo molded into the carpet heal pad.
I've been selling both Knoch and ACC carpet since the 80's and have found both to generally be excellent for fit and quality. That said, it's not a prefect world, on rare occasions I've gotten carpet sets from both of them that were cut wrong or had some other issue.

And that’s where a good company with excellent customer service is so important.
One that stands behind their product 100%!
So far, Zip has been cooperative in helping resolve the issue, but t I can tell they're losing patience.
I'm going to give ACC one mor chance, then it's three strikes and you're out, and I'll get a refund from Zip and go to another vendor.
Thanks for all the suggestions

Why don't you eliminate the middle man for now and reach out directly to Auto Custom Carpets. I'm not saying to necessarily order from ACC, but talk to them about the problem. Then they can either work with Zip to get you what you need, or decide the best way to go forward whether that's to cancel the order or try again.
ACC was started around 1980 by a former auto upholstery shop owner when he bought out a company that had formerly produced molded carpet for GM. I don't recall the founders name, but the head of sales (who later became president and owner) was Jeff Moses. To me, Jeff was the face of the company, early on showing up at swap meets with a pickup truck full of Corvette carpet sets. Jeff, along with 4 or 5 other ACC employees were killed in a plane crash 25-30 years ago. I remember when Jeff was there if you had a problem he would take your call and get involved, even as the owner.
I haven't bought directly from ACC in 25 years, mainly buying their carpet through Corvette America because they gave me a good price and I got it the next day. So I don't have any ACC contacts anymore, but I'm sure if you call them someone will be willing to help you. ACC's number is 800-352-8216.
I actually did call ACC directly and explained my problem. They refused (politely) to talk about it....said I had to go through ZIp.
I'm sorry to here that, I guess things have changed there over the years. If you eventually end up having to cancel the order with Zip and going to Al Knoch, call and make sure you talk to Melanie there. Tell her about your experienced with the Auto Custom Carpet, and see what she says about the cut and fit of Knoch's carpet.
I purchased the trunk mat for my 05 Convertible from OC Carpets. It was a top of the line ACC made carpet. I cut two 1 inch slits ( no where near the place it was short, no material removed) to pass the door and gas cables through. When I went to fit the remainder of the carpet it ended up 1 inch short between the two rear storage compartments. I contacted OC Carpets and they said, the minute I altered the carpet (the two 1 inch slits) any warranty/return was not possible. I contacted ACC and they referred me back to OC Carpets. Bottom line is if your vender will not approve any return neither will ACC. Having said all this, it’s my fault for not test fitting the entire carpet before you make any cuts. In the future I will not use ACC or OC carpets again.
