Default 1973 Corvette Rolling Chassis Help

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum and seeking some help to figure out what my corvette is worth. Long story short, it was my dads and unfortunately he passed away. Looking to sell it for a reasonable price as it's taking up space and i need room for other projects. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if it has the L82 engine or not. Everything in the pictures would be included.

Thanks!

In restored condition, painted or powder coated with all new bushings, and new tires I’ve seen them go for up to 10. That’s without an engine or transmission though.

I would assess the condition of the frame rails and rear kickup area. It’s the area that’s most prominent to rusting out. If it’s good, and with everything else I’d say you could get 5 for it easily.

Shoot a pic of the engine stampings on the right side (forward) of the block.

Shoot a pic of the underside of the differential, focusing on the aft most area, where the cover attaches.

A 73 bare frame should fit any C3 from 68 to 74 pretty easily.
And the 68-72 chrome bumper year cars are in more demand than other years of the C3.
A brand new frame can be bought for around 5 grand. Up to 7 grand now
So a good used one should be worth part of that.
But it would need to be straight and free of rust holes.
Check carefully, especially on the lower frame in front of the rear kickup.
See the forum thread on how to check for rust.
Run some pics by us.
Then post it for sale in the For Sale thread.
It should move. Maybe not right away, but someone will need one.

It is a frame for an automatic. That means it has a removeable center crossmember.
It will still fit a manual car.

I zoomed in pretty close, and I saw only mild surface rust, so that is a very good sign.
Mine had much more pitting than that and it was still solid.

What happened to the body?

Look for stamps on the pad just below front of passenger side cylinder head. The CLR here is the engine code, 1973 L82 manual trans. If you can find yours compare to the list. (I attached the 1973 list here.)

Also, VIN number is stamped in two places on the top of frame on the driver's side. One near the door and one back by the rear tire. The stamps are not deep and can be rusted over and hard to read but they should be there. For a '73, there is a single-digit engine code included in the VIN.

Condolences on loss of your Dad.

Is this car's body available ? Do you know where this car's body is located ?
