Default Looking for some input/suggestions??

To all of my C3 gurus:
I am looking for a solution-suggestion or help with somehow adding a push button to start my 78 without using the key setup on the steering column??..................My hands and fingers are riddled with arthritis which makes impossible for me to rotate the key/housing.........
TIA

Will you still be using the key to put it in the "ON" position, and unlock the steering column?

It wouldn't be a push button start in the modern sense in that case, you just need a button to power the solenoid when you crank the car. There are easy solutions for doing this in the engine compartment (when bumping the starter to adjust valves, for example). You could relocate one of those kits to your center console. Perhaps under the flip up ash tray cover, so you don't hit it by accident. How handy are you with wiring?

I’m wondering if adding an aftermarket remote start would be easier. My 2018 Dodge 2500 had key start with aftermarket remote. Once I started it remotely I simply rotated the key forward (no resistance like if I used just the key).

Good luck finding a solution.

Isn't there some sort of spring in the steering column that pushes back when you engage the starter? I would have to go out and see what that feels like and I don't want to start the car right now. But if the resistance is what troubles you, just disable the spring. You would have to be more careful not to engage while the motor is running. I may be off base here but that is what quickly occurred to me!
