i recently stripped the old interior carpet out of my 79 and getting ready to replace it with a carpet kit. While taking the old carpet out of the rear, I had to remove 3 7/16 bolts from a metal bracket that seemed to secure the carpet at its most vertical point in rear compartment ( just under privacy screens resting spot when not in use).
After all was said and done with removal it appears there were rubber expansion nuts in there, if thats what you call them. Was this from the factory, or something maybe previous owners engineered " to make it work"?
Im waiting on some carpet stay plugs to arrive from Top Flight so I can begin the install and Ive ran across some hacked stuff, that I'd like to tidy up and make right.
So I guess in closing, was those 3 7/16" bolts with threaded rubber grommets factory? If they need to be replaced, what size am I looking at? Like I mentioned, there was three of them across the back. 2 of the 3 pushed through and are long gone and 3rd is totally obliterated.
Thanks

Reason: Spelling error in title
I believe they are called carpet installation retaining plugs. 68-82 Carpet Installation Retaining Plugs
There were three plugs on the back compartment wall which were used to hold up the carpet.
Thanks guys....I have some of them retainers on order with Top Flight. Hopefully they will ship soon...I emailed them and they said they were awaiting a couple other things on my order to ship out.....ugh. I told em to drop items were waiting on and get that jazz in the mail. Daddy is ready to start laying carpert and prefer to start in rear and install speaker panels I picked up with that cut to size center section with Corvette logo. Cant rush perfection, but eager to get started. In mean time, Im dyeing oyster interior pieces black along with rear window interior garnish/trim.
