Hoping someone here has dealt with the same issue I’m dealing with. Have a 72’ and having issues with the brake lights and turn signals. Neither are working however the hazard lights are working. Also when you cut the turn signals on the radio cuts off. Did a little messing today and now the radio seems to have stopped working as well. I’m thinking it may be a ground issue but not sure. We put a new radio in recently and my dad seems to think that’s when the issue started which it may have but I think it’s just a coincidence. We didn’t really change up any wiring when when installed it, just hooked it back up the way it was before. Thoughts?
Like you said....poor ground connection...I think the main dash harness has several ground wires.
Get a wiring diagram for your year/model...it's a necessity.
The hazards work, so it's not a bulb issue or a bad ground in the back. The turn signals and brake lights both go through the turn signal switch. Perhaps start your testing with a test test light at the harmonica connector. (Base of steering column). Testing power from brake light switch and power from the turn signal relay can. Then if you have power into the column, test if it's coming out. Go from there.
obviously, check fuses. As per the radio. Take one problem at a time, if you did cross or pinch some wires perhaps you'll find it while repairing the lighting. Otherwise, fix one issue at a time.
I can replace fuse and Turns signals work. Till I hit the brakes. All bulbs are good. all Corner lights, head lights and running lights work (Rear outer lights I think the inners are only reverse?).
