A friend, who is NOT a car person, is in the process of liquidating her husband’s extra car parts, as he has had a debilitating stroke and will never drive again. She has a hardtop, which appears to be immaculate, totally wrapped up for protection, that is now for sale. Her husband indicated it’s from the 70s. Are these all one-size-fits-all? I didn’t want to totally unwrap it for pictures etc, until I know more from you guys. It’s black in color. And value??? I’m an ex-vette owner but not versed in the nitty gritty details of each generation. Thanks.
Many C3 convertible owners desire the hardtop. But actually acquiring one depends on location, as they are a large item to have shipped. I'm always looking,, $2000.00 or less seems average for one in this condition. Color is also a factor, as most owners are not painters.....
.
. Suggestion,,, if its as pristine as you say, start high on priceing. Then come down as you see the demand or lack of intrest. Or how fast ya need the cash for the situation.
As others mentioned, shipping it is a big issue for both the seller and s buyer. Also (just my opinion), unless the color matches perfectly to your car, it will likely need refinishing even if it is mint. That is not cheap.
I love the hardtop look on my 68 but doubt I would ever spend close to 2k for one that needed to be shipped and repainted to match my car’s color. I’d rather buy one that was kinda cruddy that needs paint to begin with for less money.
Black vinyl is a different story regarding color obviously but one would have to like the look.
I see them my way in great shape for less than 1k. The one on BAT Is nice but again, needs to match the exterior and (since it’s a blue liner) interior. Hard sell.
I love the hardtop for my 75. Being in south Louisiana, I keep it on all summer and leave it off in our mild winters and use the drop top.
I had to replace all the weatherstripping when I got it. It was a tedious task, for sure. Also, new weatherstripping costs a couple of hundred.
As mentioned, they will fit any year. But there may be someone out there looking for a matching year for their convertible. If the rear glass is original, I believe there is a date code on the lower right which may indicate approximate year. Could add value to a specific buyer. Others can correct me or add information.
Wonder why they wouldn't want to keep it with the car it looks really nice ? I have a hard top for my Red 68 but have never put it on. On my previous Yellow 68 I used it from time to time because the paint on the car wasn't the same quality as the red one so I wasn't worried about chipping / scratching / scuffing etc.. I kinda like the look of the hard top on the car..............it gives it a different look !!
Everything looked pristine from the little I saw. And I did check out the weather-stripping too. I’m going g to have to go back and unwrap it for a really good look.
We’re in “Far West Texas” (think almost El Paso.) I’d be willing to deliver within a limited radius (200 miles.) it’s black with black headliner, but I’m going to unwrap it for a closer inspection.

I like the black vinyl hardtop personally. Mine is documented original. One of only 279 so optioned in 1975.

Does this mean you are selling this hardtop, for someone else, in the General section… without a price?
I thought by the OP you were considering buying it.

BAT is just the online version of Barrett Jackson. The difference being that at BJ, they serve alcohol so you bid like an idiot, while with BAT, you serve yourself at home.
