Installing new seatbelts on my 74. All I have now are lap belts. Where the shoulder strap mount is on the side door post there were metal plugs. When I removed them There were no bolts. Does anyone know where I can get them and or the thread size so I maybe can get them at the hardware store. I have the bolts for everything else. Thanks
If you have a convertible, the shoulder belts were an option until '76; standard on coupes from '69. Of the 5,474 1974 convertibles, only 618 opted for the shoulder belts.

Good info. I'm redoing the interior of my '70 Coupe, but no obvious location for attaching the upper shoulder belt to the body/frame, no obvious threaded holes or anything . Anyone have pictures of where these go on both Driver and Passenger side.

In addition to what nwav8tor showed, you also need seat backs with belt pass-through "holes" and the trim for the front and back. If you google images, you'll see pics of the belt and back. There are threads here on CF that talk about the proper internal bracket and how to cut the passage.

Just bought a '74 L82 4 spd 'vert and was wondering why no shoulder belts; great info; thanks for posting!

Totally backwards thinking from our modern understanding of restraining passengers inside the vehicle — shoulda been standard on all convertibles and optional on coupes!
