Default Assembling cancel cam, spring, and plunger

1973 C3 standard column.

My replacement cancel cam does not have the slot in the shaft to hold the plastic glide. The glide piece provided just has a ridge around its middle.

I'm not sure how this works, what would keep the plastic guide piece from popping out the top? Is it a strong friction fit?

Thanks.

Green one is what I had (it was black), the white one was what I got.

The white one appeared to be a friction fit, it tool some gentle force to get it in. The cancel cam sent did not have the slot in it for the sleeve with the tab on it.

The cam was slightly different in where the cams were located. When reassembled my left turn signal gets canceled with tiny steering wheel movements.

Try the "Help" section. I got one of those pin/spring/retainer kits for about $5 at Autozone.
You push the retainer in and give it a 1/4 turn to lock it in.
