Just dropped my spare tire out of my '76 for the first time. I think it is original. I bought the car with less than 50k miles 40 years ago. Would the original be a firestone? Still holds air.
I think the spare on my '76 is the original as well, it's never been installed that I can tell.
I was wondering if it would be worth anything to someone getting their car judged.
Between us we have half of a set, assuming they're the same model and size of tire.
Check out the date, should be 3 numbers, first two is week and last is year. Worth anything? would not expect that much of a demand but all you need is one.. I have a 78 spare that I tried to give away for free but no takers. 5th week, 1978
Trying to decide what to do with it. Clean it up and put it back up or get another spare tire. Fact is, if I ever get a flat, won't use the spare anyway as you have to lay on the ground to get it out, so the tire is just a place holder for the the tire support.
How did you remove the carrier? Not sure how to remove the back two bolts.
They unthread. The bottom of those hangers has two flats, up at the top where they screw into the frame is a hex.
The rear one has two bolts holding it to the frame.
I pulled mine out for something, probably the exhaust, and haven't put it back yet.
