C3 Needle Bounce

Before I replace this speedo, I figure I'd ask if anyone has solved this issue. My '69 original speedo bounces intermittently. I captured this yesterday.

i would start by lubricating the cable. They will bind, then release causing it to bounce.

I would also examine the driven gear in the transmission

The driven gear is brand new, although, I did get the set from Amazon, so there's a good chance it's bad.

Mine does the same intermittently but also has an intermittent sound to go with it. I also have a new driven gear on the trans side. I've experienced this in past cars where the cable was easier to remove. Greasing the cable on those never made any difference. I've just been living with it in my 72.

Annoying as heck. Try loosening the cable nut at the speedo and see if it helps.
Replaced the cable in my C2 speedo some years back and it was too long. By relaxing the nut, the bounce disappeared.
Just a suggestion. You can always loosen the cable end at the transmission if that is easier.
