Trying to find a supplier for original type tower clamps - all I see offered is not really close ... no tower! Any one know of a supplier for these as original?
The tower "building" occurs when these are tightened and the nut pulls the strap upward. That upward draw is what creates the clamping force. The more slack you need to take up, the taller the tower. You can see on your old one that the screw is pretty well extended. Is there a date and size stamped into the strap?
Edit to add: I don't have a '69 judging guide, but the '70-'72 guide says all BBs used 1.5" Wittek clamps at this elbow. Small blocks did not use any clamps here.

I had heard (or read) that Kevin Marti had bought all the tooling from Wittek when they went out of business.
My understanding is he can sell you dated clamps at a reasonable price
