Hello,
I am attempting to install an ACI 3 piece front spoiler on my son’s 1979 Corvette. The center piece went on fairly easy however the corner pieces are presenting more of a problem. Below is a picture of the issue I am encountering.
Both sides look the exact same. The front all matches up as it should but the back side does not go back far enough to be even with the front of the fender. I hope that makes sense. The only solution I can come up with is to cut the corner pieces so I can position the aft portion of the corner so it lines up with the front of the fender well and then glass it all back together.
Has anyone encountered this issue and if so how did you remedy it?
Thanks so much,
Josh
I suspect there are only a couple of other forum members who have tinkered with the D80 front spoiler, I know Interpon the most recent has tackled this specifically for his 1979 and should be helpful with the alignment. I offer this as some additional guidance I worked up in doing a 1978 Pace CAr. Your're feedback would be helpful with an update for the document. Also, if you are adding a D80, you probably do not have the benefit of factory-drilled mounting holes. The picture below shows a Pace CAr (MSO-14 miles) with mounting holes for the side wings.

Actually I do have the holes in the fenders. The factory spoiler was tore up so badly that it was not salvageable. At this point I wish I would’ve spent the money purchasing NOS parts. It would’ve doubled the price but been much easier to install. I have made the decision to go ahead and cut the corner pieces and then glass them back together so everything fits as it should. I will take pictures as I go and post my progress for others to see.
Thanks,
Josh
