Default bird cage rust question

So I'm in the market for a c3 and have been studying allot about the cars
seems as though bad frame and birdcage rust can destroy all my dreams lol

I'm looking for the best car I can get for my budget, don't mind the work I'm going to have to do, but want a solid base that makes the work worthwhile.

based on the second pic, this is one I should run from right?
I mean the rest of the car doesn't look too bad cosmetically

That’s the weatherstripping, not the birdcage. Doesn’t look good though, but not the end of the world. Are you specifically looking for a 1982 collectors edition? If so there’s a few specific things to that model that car is missing.

Personally I’m not too confident in a seller that can’t even clean out the interior before taking listing photos.

Please post a better shot of the area in question. That is not a common problem area.

Pull the kick panels to expose the #2 mount area and the access panels in the rear wheel wells to examine the #3 mounts. The bottom corners of the A pillars are another known location.

For future knowledge, look at the big gap between the rear glass and the body. The '82 glass hinges are known to sag and become distorted - replacements are just about unobtainable. Read more in this thread. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ce-hinges.html

yes, another '82 Iooked at had the same problem, but it's only the '82 collectors edition that has the hinges, other '82s don't open
Sucks though because it's such a nice feature!

Not sure where you are located, or budget, but here is one that's been on the local CL in Tucson for a while.
