battery draining
My 81 Corvette is slowly draining the battery over about 2 days. I have changed the alternator 2x and ruled out that as a problem. I found a ground wire under the air filter housing that was chewed, I repaired the wire. Can't figure out where the power draw is coming from.

Had a similar issue, turned out the center storage box has a light. If the lid is not fully closed, it stays on draining the battery. The fix is remove the light bulb.

A clamp style DC ammeter. You can clamp around 1 wire and measure amp flow through the wire when the key is off. You can check each wire as needed and find exactly which one is passing amps through it. Great tool to own.

For every fused circuit (notably not the alternator, or pinched wires between the battery and starter, etc), this fuse buddy works well for any 79-82 C3, and is only $40- at Amazon.
