Anyone ever seen a C3 with the 2 fender stipes on the left side, like I've seen on the C4 or C5? And what is the history on this stipes?
I've wondered that same thing myself. I can't ever recall seeing one with the stripes. My father put those on the 94 and the 99 that he has, and they look sweet. I've considered doing that to my 78, but the fender is so wide that I thought it may look a little "off".
If anyone has any pics of the hash marks, I know I'd love to see them too!
You guys are too funny, I came in and told you what the stripes started out as and you still kick it around like I said nothing. Take it from an old Navy Man, Hash marks stand for "years in service" they were sewn below the rating stripes on a sailors left sleeve and denoted 2 years each. If their hash marks two marks stand for 4 years in service. Does that make much sence?...........Like I said War paint!
But no, hey, think what ever you like..........Call M skid marks if you wont. Then you corvette fender can look like your underware turned inside out.....................
Dang, that looks sharp. Only on the left side, right?
. . .wonder how it would look if you ran it from the crest of the fender down to the wheel well . . .
Hmmmm. Tried it lasts night with with some black electrical tape (just for a look see) The car is a white '71, kinda cool, but on a white car your eyes go right to it. May have to think on this one and wait for the wheels in the spring for full effect. Thanks for the info.
P.S. I think I am becoming addicted to this site. The help is awsome.
Correct me if I am wrong but the stripes on the C4 Grand Sport were put there to copy the 60's (don't remember the year) Corvette Grand Sport race cars? I think 1 car had one stripe and the other had 2 stripes?
