Default FS Small Block Vette Cylinder Heads

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine is cleaning out his shop of some 30 years and since he doesn’t even own a computer , he asked me to sell some of his heads for him. I have 16 heads, most of which are pairs, of small block Chevy heads – several of which have Corvette applications and may be right for your car.

Here is a list with casting numbers and dates:

3917298 L 8 7 1.71
333882 B 19 4 1.94
333882 D 18 4 1.94
14022601 M 12 2 1.94
14022601 M 22 2 1.94
3973487 C 18 1 1.94 SOLD!! Thanks, Mike!
3973487 C 22 1 1.94 SOLD!! Thanks, Mike!
14014416 I 25 5 1.94
14014416 I 25 5 1.94
462624 J 2 9 1.94
464624 J 3 9 1.94
462624 B 22 0 1.94
462624 C 4 0 1.94
3998991 F 17 4 1.71
3998991 F 17 4 1.71
3911032 C 15 8 1.71

Small block heads are $200 per pair.

I also have a couple pairs of Big Block heads that are both 336781, one pair are K of 73 bare and the others are dated from 1977 complete for $250 a pair.

I prefer local pick up but that is probably not possible so we can work out shipping later. Pics available upon request. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!!!

As for the condition, if there is a pair that you want, YOU pay to have them crack checked up front, if they pass you own them and there is no foul. If they are bad, I will reimburse you for the cost and there is still no foul.

Update with new prices!!

I have what may be a really dumb question, but I how do take the numbers you gave, and check to see which heads they are?

I am looking for closed chamber heads, or even newer vortec style heads, in order to raise my compression ratio from 8.5 to 9.5.

They look like steel heads that have been cleaned.

These are all old school cast iron Chevy heads from the (mostly) early 70's. The 3917298 L 8 7 1.71 numbers for example are as follows: 3917298 is the casting number, L 8 7 is the casting date, the date it was made. In this case, L = December, 8 = day of the month and the 7 is the last digit of the year, 1977. The last number, 1.71 is the intake valve size. 1.71 inches.

They are all cast iron. What motor combo are you running that you are trying to get to a higher compression ratio? I may be able to lead you down the right road!

76' L48, totally stock, minus true duals and full length headers. Another forum member has put me onto the vortec head idea, which means a new intake (which I would get anyway), and vortec heads paired with a decent cam, which, I am planning to use one from crane, whenever I find a good deal on heads. Right now, the heads I have are open chamber, and my compression ratio is 8.5 to 1. With a decent set of closed chambers, i would think I should go to at least 9 to 1, and shooting for 9.5. I'm not concerned with it being iron or aluminum, weight is not an issue, and neither is heat. I just want a little more power RELIABLY. I'm a junior mechanic, learning the ropes here, so any help is appreciated. I looked at some of the heads, with the info provided by the website that black silver posted, but only some of them show the cc dimensions, which is what I am mainly interested in anyway. What I also don't know, is if the bolt patterns are the same for what I already have, and if they are not, which style intake I will have to get to match them. Like I said, I'm a junior, with a big learning curve set out for me, lol.

Kevin, these heads are probably not for you. These are for guys who want to put numbers matching stuff on their cars. If you are looking for bigger power, you can make these work for you probably and they will match your current intake but you would need to talk to your machine shop about them first. You should be able to give them a list of the castiong numbers and they can tell you whether or not they will help your cause. Good luck!!
