LS6/ LS7 BBC heads - Pair
Iron LS6 heads (Complete Assembled, Used) . These have the hardened seats.. They are the 118 cc heads. . (Note - These are from a chevy ls6 crate motor - PN 6260482) They have somewhat less than 50k miles on them, and have no known issues. They are being replaced with aluminum heads.
I would prefer to sell to someone who is Dallas based, so that they can have the opportunity to inspect the parts. Asking $500 + shipping
Chevy's description:
6260482 - Open Chamber Cylinder Head (Cast Iron) 1968-90
This is Chevrolet's best cast iron cylinder head for high-performance big-block V8s. It offers exceptional power at an economical price. This casting has 118cc open combustion chambers that reduce shrouding at high valve lift and improve engine airflow. The seats are ground for large 2.19" diameter intake valves and 1.88" exhausts. This high-performance head has rectangular intake ports and square exhaust ports. It is machined for 7/16" screw-in studs and guideplates (not supplied).
Technical Notes: (see "Technical Notes" at the beginning of the Cylinder Head Group section for important information) This head was installed on LS-6 engine assembly P/N 366250 and LS-7 engine assembly P/N 3965774. It can be used with both closed and open chamber pistons to produce various compression ratios. Casting number 14096188 or 6272990. Cannot be used on Gen V engines because of upper water hole alignment. Open Chamber Design

I still have the heads
I still have these heads. Sorry for the slow response, spent some time in the Hospital.. (Better now) They are open chamber heads, very good condition, hardened seats, valves, complete, springs are intended for the stock .520 lift LS6 cam.

These are the open chamber 14096188 , which is a service replacementfor the 990's. These heads were manufactured in the late 80's for crate LS6 motors to run on unleaded Premium (10.2 compression), thus the hardened seats being a major difference.

You have first dibs on these heads.
You were the first responder, and I have been very pokey about getting back on the forum, so I will hold them for a while. I am in town till Tuesday, and again on Thursday and Friday. If you still are interested, give me a shout - 214-563-0187.
The heads are as reomved from the engine, with springs, valves, guides, studs, etc. You will be able to see the engine w/out heads as well. There is no ridge above the piston, which is an indicator of the low miles on the engine.
I guess they could be used w/out doing any work, but since they are off of the engine, I would do a minor fresh-up at the machine shop before installing again.

Since I was slow getting back to the other interested party, I think I owe him a bit of time to look at the heads. My number is 214-563-0187 if you want to ask any questions. I will definitely go to you next if I still have these soon.

FYI, in case you do end up needing to ship them, I shipped some iron BB heads recently and found Forward Air to have the most reasonable rates - considerably cheaper than even Greyhound.

These heads are available again.
Guys, the buyer(s) I was holding these for was unable to come up with the $$, so these are available again.
Addional details:
- These heads have never been rebuilt before
- There are no signs of oil leakage past the stem seals
- The LS6 engine these came off has no ridge wear indicating it is pretty fresh. At worse case the engine could have 50,000 miles on it. This was a Crate motor purchased from Chevrolet - Built in 1989 but purchased some time after that for a full restoration project on a 1971 Corvette roadster. The car has not been driven extensively since that time. I purchased the car in 2002, so it was occasionally driven by the restorer.
