Default WTB Rectangular Headlight Kit

Part Found -

Hello,

I'm looking for one of the old school, 70's vintage rectangular headlight kits that came with the surrounds and conversion parts. The one I'm looking for is the one that replaces the round lights in the stock assemblies, not the ones that remove the assembly and put fixed lights in place. One brand name was "Astro Lites" although I think were a couple places making them

My direct email is; frank@itpphoto.com

Thanks,

Frank

So, thanks to the forum I was contacted and located the parts.

As usual the forum ROCKS !

Thanks,

Guess the OP did not get it..........the point.

I too am at a point where converting the front flip lights might be replaced with fixed rectangular or round lights.

Any source info would be greatly appreciated. Did search but info is older and am looking for "current sources".

Unfortunately, it would appear the OP doesn't care to contribute. What's up with that?

OP here, sorry I didn't update the thread;

Basically - I posted the WTB and another forum member contacted me that he had the parts I needed, it wasn't the kit but instead he had converted his car back to original as his car had the rectangular lights when he got it. We worked out the deal and the parts are waiting to be installed.

I have seen these kits come up in the past (a while ago) on ebay and did see a set at the swap meet last year at Bloomington (St. Charles, IL) but they were already sold.

I have gone back and forth on deciding to do the switch and thought I'd try and find the parts, if I did I'd switch them out.

Back in the day (70's) they sold a kit I think was called "Astro Lites" and I believe up until last year both Eklers and Corvette America sold a kit but as far as I know both have discontinued them.

Probably, the component needed the most is the headlight surround with the rectangle opening as I think the rest could be modified to fit. I did see an article in an old Hot Rod magazine that showed a kit install but from that it looked like it wasn't too bad to modify the the round headlight buckets.

If I can be of any further help my direct email is; frank@itpphoto.com or my cell is; 630-430-2487. I'm in Plainfield IL if you want to stop by.

Frank

To the OP and Red69 -

thanks for the update.

Bman

I personally like the rally look with the clear flip up lenses over the round headlights.

Not the same thing. The one being discussed here retain the hidden system, but just convert the bulbs and surrounds to rectangle rather than OEM round-eyes.

Thanks to the OP for getting back with us.

I have never seen the pop-up headlights converted to rectangular bulbs. If someone has a photo of the converted lights, I'd like a look.
