WTB: NOS Silicone Brake Fluid
I am looking for sealed container(s) of silicone brake fluid that are two years old or more. Apparently, today's fluid is questionable.
Thanks,
George

I think I have a couple sealed bottles in my pole barn that are at least 5 years old that you can have. Not sure if they can be shipped, but I can find out. PM me if interested.

I would blame the calipers and or sitting for 11 months without being driven much before I blamed the brake fluid. Usually sitting will corrode the bores if they are not SS. Did you buy the calipers with the stainless steel sleeves?

I have been told (and have experienced it first hand) that silicone brake fluid will destroy the seals in the Corvette's brake system. I quit using it several years ago. If you have sleeved calipers, there is no reason not to stay with dot 3 fluid. Besides, it'll give you a firmer pedal. Silicone fluid absorbs air, and will leave your brake pedal feeling a little "spongy".

The fluid issue was brought to my attention by the caliper supplier. They replaced my calipers at no charge once I described my issue.

I just went through this. Put new DOT 5 in the newly rebuilt o-ring calipers and they started leaking. Contacted Lonestar and they said the new DOT 5 fluid is killing the seals, thus I rebuilt/flushed the whole system and now using DOT 3.
