Chevrolet did not offer the chrome air cleaner lid in 1980. It was available on the 1981's. Mr. Gasket no. 5191 is a chrome lid that looks stock. It maybe discontinued but there are some on ebay for around $40. I have them on my own cars and the chrome holds up very well.

I really thought that the chrome air cleaner lid on my 80 was original. I'll look on ebay. THANKS.

FWIW - Not 100% sure but can't prove it either way....I have a late (last 2 weeks production) 1980 that has a GM chrome air cleaner lid. Was on there when I got it 26 years ago at 43K on the odometer. Car still had original tires on it and was 100% stock. Stranger things can happen.

I picked up a GM black lid as a spare from a boneyard just in case it makes it to a judging event some day. Crazy!

Interesting. And yes, stranger things have happened. Maybe I'll stay with chrome and find a nice one. Mine is just a little pitted. It will make it to judging. Going to paint shop next week. Original 39K miles, everything is original including tires. Don't know why PO would change only Air Cleaner lid.

thanks Al
