Default *** WTB - 1968 Corvette rear deck latch assembly ***

Hello all.

Looking to purchase a rear deck latch assembly for my '68 convertible. GM part # 3942775. Driver's side. Internal spring on mine just broke today - now the left side of the top does not latch to the rear deck.

Blair, Eckler's shows the correct 1968 only latches (their part number 25-120741-1), but you might want to call them and verify the one in the picture is actually the one you'll get. They show it being used from 68-75 and that's not correct.

JB Corvette also shows the SAME ITEM for a little less, but again, you might want to call them before you order.

I have a 68 body from the fire wall back. E-mail me a picture of what you need and I'll check tomorrow to see if I have what you need.

Hello, Ed.

Thanks for the suggestion - might have to go aftermarket if I can't find an OEM original.

Hello Larry,

I believe the springs are not replaceable. I would be interested in your assembly (driver's side) if the spring is still intact. Please let me know - I appreciate your time & effort.

Regards - Blair K.

Hey all,

Quick question - is this latch a '68 part only or will others up to '75 interchange. Also, will the left and right interchange - I am thinking not - different GM part #'s for left and right. Going to go outside and compare the two.

From what I can tell - left and right latches are different.

Left and right are different, and the latches with the springs installed INSIDE the latch itself are 68 only.

Thanks, Ed for the pics. That confirms it. Ahhh, you got to love those one year only parts.

Love/hate the '68.

Sorry. After a closer look previous owner(s) replaced with 69/later latches with the spring on the outside. Do you want to try it or keep looking for a 68 part?
