Blue M1131 Laminated T Top Passenger Side - All Original 1978
I bought this top thinking that it was the correct "mirrored" finish for my 1982. It turned out (for better or worse) that it's an original 1978 "blue" laminated top. I have taken many photos. It's amazing how nice this thing is. The weatherstripping appears to be original and has no obvious cracks. I can't find any scratches in the glass either. No cracks, and all the hardware is present. It's a little dirty from sitting, but will clean up very nicely. The blue tint appears to have not faded at all over time, as this top didn't see much time outside in the sun. I'm looking for $600 + shipping.

One night someone broke the driver's side window on my 79. I put plastic over the broken window and used packing tape to tape it to the car and driver's side t-top. When I removed the tape several days later it left residue on the t-top which I removed with a razor blade. Unfortunately that removed part of the hyper important factory printing on the glass thus devaluing it significantly.

Yikes! But I have been there too with some of the projects on my car. The only saving grace is that, at the end of the day, the car is still in better shape than when I started. That's what keeps my frustration to a minimum!

Interesting! I am looking at an article now that shows N as being 1958, 1971, or 1984. Does that seem right? I thought all glass after 1979 was tempered, not laminated like this one. Maybe LOF continued to make parts a few years after GM switched for warranty/insurance cases?

all laminated m1131 tops disappeared by late 1980 ,some examples have been seen, used up until June of 81 ( rare ) after July of 81 that all the glass tops were tempered , cars that were produced in the new bowling green plant had m92a used through 1982 and had a green tint to them , as opposed to the laminated m1131 witch were blue. 63,553 cars built between September of 1977 and 1982 all had glass tops, the rest were all fiberglass. ( 17,327 cars) making the fiberglass tops more rare today than the glass ones.
