I get drips down by my left leg near the speaker/lower dash. Dont know if its coming through door post or up from wiper area. Carpet on the side end up wet too. Hope someone knows source. THX
You ain't gonna want to hear this, but I'd say it's likely rust in the windsheild support. Gunk gets down in the channels on either side, plugs 'em up, water sits there and rusts it through, and bingo, wet carpets and dripping. Pull off your kick panels and look for rust flakes there. If you've got rust through, you need to get it fixed, because the water's also going onto your body mounts and frame there.
Yeah, that's not what I wanted to hear. But at least it's honest. When I researched my car it was mainly a west coast area car so you would think rust wouldnt be a factor with no salt around. Do you mean kick panel inside car where speaker is or scuff plate near door bottom?
I suggest you get "Corvette Water Leak and Wind Noise Solutions" by Michael Davis. He will tell you about the hole that Chevrolet put in the lower windshield frame (for no apparent reason) and plugged with putty that dries out, turns to powder and falls out after about 15 years. Instant water fall. Take the passenger side dash pad off to see the one on that side. If it's not leaking now, it will.
I had alot of cracking in my wiper-tray area that was giving a leak like you describe on both sides. I just used a silicone-like sealant, but you could get more aggresive and coat the whole area.
The bonding agent for the seam in the wiper well cracked on my car causing the leak above my feet. Easy to find run hose in wiper well and watch the water drip..

Are you talking about the hole that loks like a windshield wiper motor shaft belongs there?
On my 78 I just took the windshield out and found a little rust in one corner. i ended up cutting the tops off the fenders to get to some rust holes.
Something I noticed on mine were two half dollar sized holes that were apparently factory at the lower edge under the windshield near the firewall. Both still had some type of factory sealant on them but mostly it was gone. these holes lead to the hollow section of the windshield frame. I think if your windshield was still well sealed there probably would not be a leak here, but if your sealant is dry it could be a problem. I am getting mine welded up, along with the rust holes.
