I was actually expecting them to treat me like or . The commentary was quite honest & pretty darn accurate. One guy even made a comment about the thrill being in the construction - kind of like a science project. That was a really astute comment from someone who has never met me. Look, I realize it's a bit of a freakshow but it's different & it's what I liked at the time. I would still WAY rather cruise Merlin down the street than one of those zillion $150K Nomads they've sold today. Andrew made a few dollars so I'm happy for him. If it had sold for really big bucks, I probably would have been a bit mad at myself. It sold pretty much where I thought it would (and not that much more than I sold it for).
Way to win friends and influence people there...
67k was a steal! Whipples wheels and paint... just that and your nearly there!

Don't know if it was Alain Decadanet who said that in particular, but here's my favorite quote from him and some of the others, last year's auction.
Looking in the trunk of something custom... pointing at an AMPLIFIER
Faceless voices: "What's that big thing in there, is that one of those subwoofers?"
Alain: "I don't know, but it's got 1000 watts!!"
Lesson being, take the 'technical' commentary with a grain of salt!
It's a shame it didn't bring more, but any custom car is a hard sell. It's got to appeal to the buyer, and the people who are interested in a car like Merlin usually would rather build (or have one built) for themselves.
Pretty messed up world we live in where an Olds 442 is worth more than a pristine Lamborghini Countach S...
Geez, I guess my question got swamped in all the hostilities & sucking up...oh well....I'll figure it out myself..as usual.
Steve, I was wondering, do you still have your buildup pics? I used to have all your pics stored on a hD but it crashed a long time ago and now I don't have them anymore, I was hoping to find the pics of your fuel tank & pump setup. From what I recall you were running (2??) an SX pump/filter setup also, also I'm interested ins eeing the alu tank, I'm planning on building one myself and could use some ideas. I want to drop the CG and lower the tank but maybe I can get some nice ideas from your one.
