Default zz4, exhaust headers

I have a new zz4 engine on the way, and want to install headers and new exhaust pipes. I had L48 with 2" exhaust , and want to go to 2.5"exhaust

I ordered hedman elite hedders. 1 Where can I get the exhaust pipes from? 2 Can I order 2.5 L82 exhast pipes and use them?
3 Do I Have to have a heat riser with this set up?

1. All the pipe kits are designed to be used with stock manifolds.

2. Any kit you order will have to be modified.

3. Heat riser won't work with headers.

I don't know about the Hedman headers. I had the Dynomax Cerama-Coats before I went sidepipes.

My advice to you is find a muffler shop locally that will do custom work. My old undercar exhaust was dual 2.5" pipe with Ultra-Flo stainless mufflers. I am assuming that you have an older C-3 with two holes in the transmission crossmember. The shop that did mine also installed flanges right after the transmission crossmember so I could remove the system for work and a crossover pipe as well. Basically, from my headers, a short piece of pipe on each side with a flange on each end that went through the crossmember. Then it bolted to the rest of the system which consisted of dual pipes, mufflers, and crossover all welded. To drop the system, I unbolted the hangers at the mufflers, undid the flanges and pulled the whole system out the back as one piece. Actually still have it if I ever go back to an under car system. I would just need to have new connectors fabricated.

Basically, all I am saying is find a good local shop and let them do it.

Default Exhaust System w/Headers

Scout around for a muffler shop that is willing to work with you and build a 2.5" system from the headers back. They will be able to mandrel bend the pipes for better flow and can get just about any muffler you want to use, although they will no doubt push their own. I know of no kit for use behind headers.

I happened to use ceramic coated Hooker Super Comps and had a shop lined up to build the rest of the exhaust system back to the Flowmaster mufflers.

I have a ZZ4 engine also to install.

Do the Hedman elite headers match the "D" shapped exhaust port of the ZZ4? The "D" exhaust port looks like a "D" except the flat side of the D is horizontal.

I have the Hedman Heders for the stock 68/69/ sidepipe exhaust system. The catalog indicates the headers only fit straight plugs. The ZZ4 has angle plugs and the exhaust ports are a little higher than other engines (so I've been told). The Hedman Heder I have nevertheless fits my angle plug heads, and even though the exhaust ports are supposedly 0.1 inch higher than the earlier heads, the headers fit the Corvette frame very well. My problem is that the Hedman Hedders have a round exhaust opening that does not match the D port outlet of the ZZ4 heads. I called Hedman and they refused to make a D port side exhaust header for me even though they do make short D port headers (body huggers).
