Default Lowering Rear Suspension

I just read a thread about exhaust clearance under the rear and some thoughts came to mind. I'm getting ready to redo my suspension and exhaust on my 68 Conv. I've got VB offset trailing arms, poly smart struts, poly front diff. mounting bushings, Rear crossmember reinforcement discs and a 2 1/2" exhaust. The concern is exhaust clearance under the smart strut bracket. I read a thread some time back about lowering the rear by shaving the diff. crossmember mounting bushings. There was alot of concern about altering drivetrain geometry but someone published a copy of a magazine article from a reliable source detailing this proceedure. It would seem like a good way to gain additional exhaust clearance in addition to lowering your Vette. The problem I had was the copy was hard to read so I didn't print it, my later search attempts come up empty. Does anyone have a copy of this article or any thoughts on this Mod??

See page 21. I did something similar to this, making custom bushings out of UHMW plastic, to get my halfshaft angles right after lowering. It raised the diff about 1/2 inch. There's only about 1/4 inch left between the top of the diff. and the floorboard.
